Important Activities and Dates

District 5180’s RYE program provides mandatory trainings through Orientations for the students. There are also a couple other mandatory attendance activities. One is the yearly International Culinary Event and the other is the District 5180 Conference. The RYE Calendar denotes these mandatory events in red.

As well, District 5180’s RYE program provides some fun trips during which time the students get to know each other and bond with each other...an important aspect to their exchange experience. Those trips include a 4-day San Francisco trip, Holiday trip in Sacramento, Lake Tahoe Ski trip, Santa Cruz trip with ROTEX (return exchange students), and a 4-day Yosemite trip.

As mentioned above, you are not a taxi. RYE provides all Host families with a Host Families Contact list so you can work on developing car pools and share in needed transportation to and from activities. Your student’s Counselor and Club YEO are there to assist too.
